I was talking to Kim, and we were discussing cultural differences, and we came to the subject of raised voices.
I don't know if I should make this an actual poll or not, but, informally: when you were growing up, how often did you hear raised voices within your house?
Were they yelling/shouting voices from arguments? Just loud voices raised for volume but not anger? From parents, kids, or both? Daily? Once in a while? Rarely? Never?
(Any details about your background would be helpful to add context, but it's totally fine with me if you're not into that.)
Edited to add one last question: Has the prevalence or lack of raised voices in your childhood home affected your own willingness to get loud? (Things used to get scary-loud, so now you shy away from that; you're so used to everyone getting loud, now you don't even notice it; you never got used to it so now it bothers you, etc.) |
