I just received my first contract. Samhain (http://samhainpublishing.com/index.php) wants to publish something I've written. Someone actually wants to publish my work!
Since I've never had to do this before, I've asked someone to look at the contract for me, so I don't sign something I shouldn't. It looks like a good deal, though.
There probably won't be anything for y'all to see until 2008, and the wait is unfortunate, but, still: someone wants to publish my work!
Once I sign, the next part will be the revision process, which I haven't done to suit someone else's standards since, what, high school? I'll have to practice being obedient.
The best part about all of this is, I expected to sign contracts with a different publisher for two other projects first. I still will, if everything pans out.
I'm in demand!
Edited to add: I can't believe it. My goal for 2007 was to make progress toward becoming a professional writer. I already have "In This Land" and now, already in February, a publisher's offering a contract. WOO-HOO! Backstreet's back, baby. |
