Thanks! [Mar. 13th, 2007|08:52 am]
Those were some great answers yesterday. You guys have good coping skills.

For some of you, when you're worried, the first thing to do is find a distraction or busy yourself with something else, and for others, the first thing to do it sit down and think it through, figure it out. Apparently, as with many things in life, there is no one correct answer; do what works for you.

If I start to worry about something, or dread an upcoming event, one of my coping mechanisms is to try to get as much control over the situation as possible. I plan for it. I make lists. I try to plot instead of fret. (Make your obsessive-compulsive tendencies work for you!)

I've learned that procrastination is out to get me, so I try to power through the impulse to put things off. Sometimes, though, I still fall prey to it.

I used to have no life experience whatsoever (really, it's like I was reared in a bubble), so I used to think that I couldn't handle anything. Now, I've actually been through some things, so I'm more confident. It's really quite helpful.

I have a certain number of day-to-day anxieties that are just a part of life. Yesterday, though, I was worried about something (someone) in particular, and I was pushing myself to continue on with my daily routine and trust that everything would be all right. Everything is all right, on that front. (Praise Okanoti.) But as I worried, I wondered, how does everyone else handle this stuff?
