I submitted a short story to a publisher with the hope of having it accepted for an anthology. This publisher apparently doesn't send an automated "we've received your submission" e-mail message, so I'm like, uh, you got it, right?
There was, of course, a maximum word count, which (surprise!) I exceeded, so Diamond and I combed through the story picking out words one by one. (Changing the love interest's name from two words to one really helped with that.) Frankly, the story was better the first time around, but at least now it fits their submission guidelines.
Time for a status check: Samhain: contract mailed, revisions should begin in June Publisher #2: contract negotiations begun Publisher #3: sent in a submission, waiting for a response Novel #2: first draft completed and waiting for me to get back to it sometime in June when I return from my trip. (I already sense a sequel lurking out there.)
I call that: progress.
Also, Justin Timberlake hosts the Kids Choice awards tonight. |
