Orina Anoris and the Jacacean Empire
Nikki said (emphasis mine):

"I tell ya that Heir Voe is such a harsh character to read so far. The whole land is really. It seems the only time they open up is when they're caring for the sick. It's unnerving to go from a colorful world where everyone is happy and honest to this one where everything is coldness and resentment. Everyone is so restrained and secretive. Even the sex was held back!"

Thoughts on Orina Anoris and Jacacea?

Comparisons?

Reactions?

Two parts in may be too early for a true comparison, since there's still a lot to learn, but I'd like to hear some first impressions.

While there are certainly some stark differences in how Jacacean's and Anorian's live their lives, i.e. flushing toilets vs praying for water, we are seeing only what the Jacecean's are allowing them to see for now. Simply because the two countries have not been on friendly terms for such a long time their minds are certainly clouded on when it comes to viewing their different kinds of people and cultures.

Do you know what would be cool, if they ran into Aiae and his brother in Jacacea since they went there to go a hospital! Of course, I have no idea as to when that's exactly set in ITL verse, so they coulda already come and gone.

I'm just excited to see more!!! :)

My first impression of Jacacea is that it's everything Orina Anoris is not. Both of them not getting along makes sense to me now. I just realized, after almost 80 chapter, that the Orina Anoris doesn't have any modern technology! It was a lovely realization that Orina Anoris is absolutely perfect without it!

I'm so lonely here in the "I <3 Heir Voe" club. Yes, there's a club, we're (I'm) making lovely t-shirts (stickers). Quite frankly I love that Jacacea is so different. I'm fascinated about where this story line is going. Every chapter I read I cross my fingers for a Heir Voe point of view. Though, I'm the same way about Kudorin.

If this is Kudorin's book, then I'm sort of confused. I mean Assuming (and we've all heard that saying) that Voe is Kudorin's one and only, isn't it sort of unfair to Heir Voe? He could be Emperor (way better than being a king!). So wouldn't it be sort of mean to take him from his home country and tell him he can't go back? Kudorin's pretty rocking, but still ... seems a little unfair.

Anyway, now I know how Bade feels, I have a ton of questions and want to know everything. Bade and I should get together, compare notes, aggravate Voe. It'll be a super fun time.

Hey, I'm the president of the local chapter of that organization. I'll have to get Diamond to make us some merchandise.

“Bade,” they heard loudly, Rini enunciating clearly. “Vade. Bade,” he repeated slowly. “Vade. This tall, curly hair…” Bade and Vade looked at each other, then hurried together toward the door. “Bade. Vade. Why is this confusing?” Rini asked the servant, puzzled.

“Because your accent’s terrible,” Vade said, “and it sounds like you’re saying something else.”....

...“Bade and Vade are one-syllable words,” Rini said. “How can my accent be bad? What else would Bade and Vade mean, besides your names? Oh! And congratulations!” Suddenly flashing a wide, bright smile, he hugged Bade. “I heard that your father gave you his blessing!”...

...They thanked him, and he left. As they slipped their necklaces on, Bade said, “I notice that you failed to answer his question.”

“As did you,” Vade replied, looking down to make sure that the pendant faced the right direction.

“The Anorian accent does…muddle things a bit.”

Did it ever. “It strikes the ear differently, yes.”

Their eyes met.

“Has Orinakin noticed?” Vade asked.

“I can’t believe that he hasn’t,” Bade said. “But he’s been too kind to mention it.”

I've been meaning to ask for quite some time now...

What the hey are they talking about?!?!

"Bade" and "Vade" sound like other Nosupolin words, when pronounced with an Anorian accent.

Uh, yeah. Which words and why does it seem like a bad thing?

I have no idea whose book this is. My original guess was Anosanim and since I don't have a better idea -- I'm keeping it.

But, onto Orina Anoris and Jacacea --

I like Jacacea! It's like an anime version of Venice! It's really pretty - though sterile - almost "the silver city" ala Neverending story part 2.

Voe freaks me out - in a good way - I mean he's HOT. of course. But, its weird that he doesn't feel. I want to constantly hug Orinakin.

Also, I think OA and J do have things in common. They are both dedicated STRONGLY to their faith. Through that dedication they have both been successful "good" countries.

Oh! Last thing! Why hasn't Orinakin thought about the whole - I'm hot for Voe must bring him home to Kudorin thing?

This is a bit unrelated, but since these new chapters are making me really excited about the story I've gone back to rereading some of my favorite chapters, so I might as well post about it here. I found a typo I thought you'd like to know about before The Purple Book gets published in book form.

It's in Chapter 43. "Grekkis" first shows up, then gets changed to "Grekka." The second name shows up again, so I'm guessing that Grekkis was the original/rejected name? ::shrug::

Thank you for being excited and rereading! And thank you very much for letting me know about that mistake. It's fixed now.
