Fun fact: I love paper. I am all about paper. Notebooks, notepads, let me get my hands on a fresh sheet of paper and I will feel compelled to write all over it. Even though I've been writing almost exclusively on a computer for years now, I still get a little greedy and grabby around the office supplies aisle.|
Anyway, I was talking to Diamond yesterday, and she made the mistake of mentioning some of my site's unused capabilities, and I went to matthewhaldemantime.com's control panel, and I saw WordPress, and I installed it.
The last thing I need is a new blog.
Now, I already use LiveJournal for my blogging purposes. I could leave LiveJournal and use WordPress as my primary blog, but I like that I'm already a member of a community here.
I can't not use the new blog for something. I have to write on it. It beckons me like fresh paper.
I considered using it as my new on-site blog, to post the notices I now post here, but that's updated so infrequently, it's not very satisfying.
I considered using it for ITL. A place to post Anosanim's letters to his parents, Bade's letters home, Orinakin's letters to Dillane, etc. (I want to read Xio Voe's correspondence.) But I don't update Rini's MySpace page enough as it is.
So I turn it over to you. I must use the new blog for something, but I can't accept any new demands on my time. You tell me: what should I put here?
Oh my god. I totally know what you're talking about. My favorite time of the year is the beginning of the school semester because that means I get to buy SCHOOL SUPPLIES. So freaking fun (I have yet to get a real job so it won't be "office supplies" for a long time).
I get the blog delima as well, as for a while I would just get one to get one, then I lost track and stopped updating almost all of them. Even this one I usually only update about once a month.
Maybe the new one could be a FAQ type of blog? I know here it's more fun for discussion and there's an occasional question or two, but most of the time it's usually used to enhance community discussion.
I liked the idea of the letters but if you're not updating Rini's then it's probably safe to say you won't update this one (it's also a lot of additional writing I think).
I just don't know, you do so well here, I think anything else I would like to see is concepts about how you came up with the ITL Universe etc, but aren't you putting that in the Extras Section for the books?
oh, the letter idea sounds great, but you could also put any letters you make under the password required short stories section.
I would LOVE if you turned it into the fake dairies of the Sucker characters! That would be awesome, JC fretting about what outfit to wear the next time he sees Nick, for example. Maybe even some insight into those freaks, Brian and Howie...
A girl can dream.
But I can't accept any new demands on my time is obviously the key sentence here, so... Maybe you could use it for discussing writing and the writing process? "A Writer's Journal" or some such. Although it overlaps a teensy bit with LJ, this new one could be totally focused on writing? The daily trials and tribulations of your writing life...
That would be a pretty sweet alternative to the JC dairies...
OMG. >.< Your icon!!
You know JC would rock Aretha's hat! *shimmies*
As I look over facebook, apparently everyone is.
...no new demands on your time...Hmmm... I don't know! I'm sorry! I have no good ideas at this time!
::writhes in agony at the thought of Xio Voe's letters::
My brain can't get past the idea of the letters - Bade's, Vade's, Selorin torturing Vade some more via their correspondance, maybe the belas writing to their friends and family members? The possibilities are practically endless.
Dude. Wait. Letters?!?! I want the damn letters!
What about posting some things cut out of regular chapters? Or commentary on a few things from updated chapters or new stories?
*waves* Hi, new reader. :) falconer007
sucked me in.
By suggesting this, you have now entered into a contract obligating you to post replies if I follow through.
Falconer is terrific. Thanks, Falconer!
Heh. I'll sign on the dotted line and do so solemnly swear to comment, even if I can't think of anything that's not inherently dumb.
